Harry and Elaine Scates

Harry and Elaine Scates part of the Shalom-Comunidade Crista Uberlandia, Minas Gerais. Harry Scates is the coordinator of the eldership. Presently he covers 45 churches in eight states. The Scates have served the Lord in Brazil for 48 years. Their four children all serve the Lord. Two of them are part of the pastoral team in Uberlandia where our church of 5,000 disciples has 60 pastor (men and women) Twenty of them are full time. They have planted churches in 12 cities and another 35 churches are linked to their ministry. The Scates have planted 6 churches in Europe and in India. Harry was raised in a Christian home. His father was a pastor and church planter who had a heart for missions. Harry's personal call came when he was 12 years old on the day that his 16 year old brother who wanted to be a missionary died. He understood that the place that he was being called to was Brazil at a church camp where the missionary speaker was Cay Ewing from Brazil. Before that L.David Sanders had spoken at our church in 1947, before leaving for Brazil. The Lord provided the right wife for Harry and they have been happily married for 52 years. Harry received from Intermountain Bible College and Mesa Collegea B.A. and from Hays University a M.A. Being taught by the Holy Spirit Harry from a family that for several generations has produced Christian pastors, teachers and leaders. Harry's father and mother had six boys, three of which became pastors. The others became leaders in local churches. Harry and his wife four children. Two of which are pastors the others are active in churches. Several of their grandchildren have leadership roles in the church.
